Voluntary Boulevard Ash Tree Removal
The City of Cottage Grove wants your help in diversifying our urban forest and minimizing the devastating impacts of Emerald Ash Borer in our City. We are currently in year 8 of 12 for the Emerald Ash Borer management plan. Emerald Ash Borer is an insect that attacks and kills ash trees. Trees are killed by the tunneling of the larvae under the tree’s bark. Emerald Ash Borer will lead to massive wipeouts of our ash tree population in the very near future.
Year 8 in the management plan calls for another voluntary removal of the ash trees. The City will remove the volunteered ash tree depending on current resources available, time and current condition of the tree which is determined by the Forester. The removed tree will be replaced with a new 2’’ diverse species tree at no cost to the resident.
