No motion was made.
3. Essay and Poster Contest
Laurie handed out the latest information about the 2010 essay/poster contest. Ken asked about
someone wanting to enter both contests. Members suggested that the contest be open to students
who live in Cottage Grove or attend a district 833 school. A student should either live here or go
to school here. The question of whether or not the prize should be money or a plaque or a
ribbon? Joe said he would ask State Human Rights Commission. It was suggested that the
judging be done before the Strawberry Fest, maybe at the June meeting and that the winners be
announced at the festival. It was suggested that everyone who enters gets a certificate and that
essays should not be longer than two typed pages. All entries will be sent to Ken.
4. 2010 Census
Francisco stated that his contact, Mario Hernandez gave him resources from the State of
Minnesota. He handed out Golden Valley’s census materials. It was suggested that census logo
