Call to Order At 7:01 PM the meeting was called to order. 2. Approval of Minutes Jen Peterson made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 2007 meeting. Cathy Hanson seconded the motion, All Present in Favor. 3. Diversity Highlight of the Month March is Women’s History Month. Jen Peterson read a biography of Vel Phillips. 4. Essay Contest The winner of the Essay Contest was announced. The winner for 2007 is D’monte Farley. Cathy Hanson made a motion to declare D’monte Farley the winner of the Essay Contest, award prizes and forward his essay to the state competition. Seconded by Rajean Moone, voting Yay- Rajean Moone, Cathy Hanson, Jen Peterson, and Christie Thompson. Abstaining- Danisa Farley. D’monte will be presented with a certificate and prizes at a future Council or Commission meeting. 5. City Update Joe Fischbach updated the Commission on the recent accident that occurred with the police department. He also went over the process that needs to be used to appoint commissioners to the Commission. 6. Neighbors Connecting Neighbors Update The latest segment about domestic violence should be airing by the end of the month. 7. Facing Race 1 Rajean Moone outlined the proposed work plan for the Facing Race event the Commission would like to conduct. The St Paul Foundation and the school district have agreed to by partners. th The date for the first seminar has been tentatively set for Tuesday, June 19. Christie will approach the 3M Foundation for some possible funding. 8. Commission Comments & Requests None 9.
