Meeting Minutes

1. Call to Order
At 7:04 PM the meeting was called to order.
2. Approval of Minutes
Jen Peterson made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 2007 meeting. Danisa Farley
seconded the motion, All Present in Favor.
3. Vice Chair Nominations
Chair Moone took nominations for Vice Chair of the Commission. Motion by Danisa Farley to
appoint Jen Peterson as Vice Chair of the Commission. Seconded by Rajean Moone, Yeas-
Moone, Farley, Abstain- Peterson.
4. Commission Work Plan
Rajean Moone made a motion to approve the Commission Work Plan and Role of the
Commission sheet that were handed out at the April meeting. Seconded by Danisa Farley, All
Present in Favor.
5. Facing Race
There are two financial sponsors of the event, 3M Cottage Grove and Mainstreet Bank. Lunch
costs still need to be determined as does the date. Staff Liaison Joe Fischbach will talk with
River Oaks about possibly having the event there and what the costs would be. The fiscal agent
th
letter of agreement will be before the City Council on May 16 for consideration.
6. Diversity Highlight of the Month
May is Older Americans and Asian-Pacific Islander month.
7. City Update

The City Council was presented with the Ravine Park Master Plan. It is a 5-10 year development
plan with a focus to elevate its use. A plan is to connect the trails to those on the St. Croix and to
the Lake Elmo park. There was also a possibility of a proposed off-leash dog park. The City and
school district have signed agreement related to adding a second sheet of ice at the ice arena. The
City Council has approved a concept plan for the McHattie Farms subdivision. The senior
housing complex at Norris Square remains under construction. HealthEast is now open at its new
location in the SummerHill building.
8. Neighbors Connecting Neighbors Update
The segment on domestic violence is now airing. Rajean will do the next segment on
Alzheimer’s and dementia.
9. Commission Comments & Requests
The Commission may staff a table and Strawberry Fest and may have the Clothesline Project at
National Night Out. The Clothesline Project brings awareness to domestic violence and its
effects.
10. Adjourn
Danisa Farley made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:25 PM; Seconded by Jen Peterson, All
Present in Favor.
