Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, August 8, 2007

1. Call to Order
At 7:05 PM the meeting was called to order.
2. Approval of Minutes
Sue made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 2007 meeting. TJ seconded the motion,
All Present in Favor.
3. Introduction of New Commission Members
All Commissioners present at the meeting and the staff liaison went around the table and gave
backgrounds about themselves.
4. Commission Work Plan
Rajean gave the new members of the Commission a history of the Commission, what the goals
and objectives of the Commission are and others items that helped the new members get up to
speed.
5. Commission Projects
Rajean gave the Commission members a list of topics that the Commission could potentially
work on. Commission members should give their preferences to Rajean before or at the next
meeting.
6. Steering Committee Meeting- Comprehensive Plan Update
Jen is the Commission liaison to the Steering Committee. She gave the Commission an update of
what the Steering Committee has been doing, a brief history of the process and the next steps.

7. National Night Out recap
The Commission had a booth and the Clothesline Project out at Kingston Park. Hundreds of
residents stopped by the booth.
8. FacingRace wrap-up
The Commission has received the evaluation forms from the event that was held in June. After
reviewing them the Commission will decide the next step(s).
9. Diversity Highlight of the Month
None
10. City Update
The East Ridge High School groundbreaking was held last week.
11. Neighbors Connecting Neighbors Update
The FacingRace event taping is now airing. Rajean and Jen will do the next taping on
Alzheimer’s disease.

13. Adjourn
Jen made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:36 PM; Seconded by Sue, All Present in Favor.
