One of the key recreational opportimities is fisl�ing, this pond is stocked anmially by the MnDNR and the City sponsors a fishing event each June to promotc fisl�ing at the pond. 1'he proposed trail is to be compliant with ihe American Disability Act (ADA accessible) and will lead down to a fishing dock, The ne�v trail will come off of the eYisting trail at the NE corner of I Iard�vood Avenue and 73"� Street S.; the new trail will run east along 73'� Strcet S. for approsiinately 100 fect. From there, the trail branclies off into two trails, one continues alongside 73 Street S. to the first intersection wl�ile the other meanders do�vn to the fishing dock. (Please see attacheci pich�re for reference and more information.) This new trail wil] be landscaped witl� trecs and a planting bed, �vhich consists of various perennials and a crabapple tree. A resting bench will be placed along the meandering trail for a panoramic vie�v of the pond. The landscaping clements will not be part of the trail contract, but will be done with landscape interns in the summer. llISCUSSION: Plans and Specifications Plans and specifications have been prepared in accordance with City's standards aud spccifications. The enginecr estimate for this improvement is $25,000.00. Fimding for this project will come from the City's Park Trust Pund as outlined in the 2008 budget.
