COUNCI� ACTION REQUEST:
Consider adopting a resolution accepting the donation of Wells Fargo stock with an
approximate value of $25,000 for EMT training and equipment purchases.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the reso�ution. This action formalizes acceptance of the donation, which was presented
at the 12/5/2007 City Council meeting.

RESOLUTION NO. 08-XXX
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION OF WELLS FARGO STOCK REPRESENTING
APPROXIMATELY $25,000 FOR
THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FIRE
DIVISION FOR EMT TRAINING AND/OR EQUIPMENT PURCHASES
WHEREAS, in support of the Cottage Grove Department of Public Safety, Katherine and
Conway Olson of Cottage Grove wish to donate Wells Fargo Stock, in an amount representing
$25,000, to the Department of Public Safety Fire Division, for the purpose of training and/or
equipment purchases, for Cottage Grove Paramedic and EMT personnel; and
WHEREAS, this donation is being made in the memory of retired Cottage Grove Police
Chief Robert Oszman, who served from 1964 to 1981; and
WEREAS, Conway Olson served as a Cottage Grove City Council member from 1965 to
1971 and Katherine Olson served as an election judge since the early 1960's; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Olson and Chief Oszman were instrumental in getting the City's first
ambulance, a station wagon equipped with a cardiac monitor/defibrillator; and
WHEREAS, twenty years ago Mrs. Olson's heart stopped and was successfully restored
by Cottage Grove EMS personnel; and
WHEREAS, should the City Council accept the donation it would be used to purchase and
train personnel by utilizing an Adult, Child and Infant Megacode Advanced training mannequin;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety recommends the acceptance of the donated
stock in accordance with the wishes of the Olson's and recommends that it be used for the stated
training and equipment purchases;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Cottage
Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, hereby accept, on behalf of the Department
of Public Safety, the donation of Wells Fargo stock representing $25,000 from Katherine and
Conway Oison.
