STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Authorize issuance of the premises permit. During the required Public Safety Department background investigation, no facts were found that would constitute a basis for denial of the application. The application is for renewal of an existing premises permit. Woolery March 10, 2008 GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATION RENEWAL INTRODUCTION All licensed organizations that conduct lawful gambling within the City of Cottage Grove. are required by State Statute and City Ordinance, to obtain a Premise Permit from the Minnesota Charitable Gambling Control Board for each gambiing site. The issuance of Lawful Gambling Premise Permits are subject to local approval through a resolution adopted within sixty days of the date of the appiication for a new or renewed permit or license. BACKGROUND Pursuant to City Ordinance, Michael E. Martin, on behalf of the VFW Post 8752, located at 9260 E. Pt. Douglas Road, Cottage Grove MN 55016, has submitted an application for a Premise Permit to conduct Class B lawful gambling events at the VFW Red Barn, located at 9260 Pt. Douglas Road Cottage Grove, Minnesota 55016. The Department of Public Safety is required to conduct a police investigation of the applicants. DISCUSSION We have investigated the applicants and have not found any facts that would constitute a basis for denial of this application, under the provisions of the City's Gambling Ordinance. RECOMMENDATION Recommend that the City Council adopt a resolution approving the Premise Permit for the VFW Post 8752 to conduct lawful gambling at the VFW Red Barn. ( � I �� ► Y D � : � / RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION OF VFW POST 8752 FOR A PFdER9lSES PEI2NIIT TO CORl�UCT LAWFIDL PUI2POSE GANIBLIIdG AT 9260 POINT DOUGLAS ROAD, COTTAGE GROVE, MINNESOTA WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute requires premises on which lawful gambling is conducted to be licensed by the Minnesota Charitable Gambling Control Board; and WHEREAS, VFW Post 8752 has submitted an application for a Premises Permit to operate at 9260 Point Douglas Road, Cottage Grove, Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the Cottage Grove Public Safety Department has conducted the required background investigation on the application and no facts developed that would constitute a basis for denial; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, that it hereby authorizes the issuance of a premises permit to the organization, VFW Post 8752, for gambling operations at 9260 Point Douglas Road, subject to compliance with the provisions of the City's Gambling Ordinance and Minnesota Statutes relating to gambling.
