C. Consider appointing Brian Hagen as Chairperson and Ben Franczok as Vice-
Chairperson of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Commission for the 2009
term.

D. Consider approving the Memorandum of Agreement with Inver Hiils Community
College regarding paramedic student ride-alongs.
Staff Recommendation: Approve the Memorandum of Agreement.
E. Consider approving the Memorandum of Agreement with Wisconsin Indianhead
Technical College regarding paramedic student ride-alongs.
Staff Recommendafion: Approve the Memorandum of Agreement.
F. Consider issuance of a Temporary Single Occasion Gambiing permit to the
Phoenix Residence, inc., for a raffle to be neld at the River Oaks Golf Course,
located at 11090 South Highway 61.
Staff Recommendation: Approve the Temporary Single Occasion Gambling Permit. No facts
were found during the police investigation that would constitute a basis for denial oi the
application.
G. Consider issuance of a Temporary On-Sale Intoxicating Liquor License to the
St. Paul Park/Newport Lions Club to sell intoxicating liquor, strong beer, and
wine coolers at the 2009 Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest on June 19 — 20 at
Kingston Park and on June 20 at Lamar Park.
Staff Recommendation: Approve the Temporary On-Sale Infoxicating Liquor License. No facts
were found during the police investigation that would co�stitute a basis for deniat of the
app(ication.
H. Consider issuance of a Tobacco License to Omar Ziad Wazwaz of Smokes 4
�ess #4 Inc. to sell tobacco and tobacco-related products at the retail store
located at 8461 East Point Douglas Road.
Staff Recommendation: Approve the tobacco license. No facts were found during the police
investigation that would constitute a basis for denial of the application.
I. Consider authorizing a grant funding request in the amount of $27,122.00 with
the U.S. Department of Justice to continue funding for two part-time clerical
support positions.
Staff Recommendation: Authorize the grant funding request. These positions provide clerical
support for the Pub(ic Safety Department and the City Clerk's office and were eliminated in the
amended 2009 budget. One of the intents of the grant is to preserve jobs already in place and
maintai� consistent levels oipublic service.
J. Consider authorizing the grant application to the COPS Hiring Recovery
Program (CHRP) for two police officer positions.
Staff Recommendation: Authorize the grant application.

L. Consider ordering the abatement of nuisance violations at 8323 — 81 st Street
Lane South with the costs to be paid by the property owner.
Sfaff Recommendation: Adopt the resolutron ordering the abatement of nuisance violatrons at

M. Consider ordering the abatement of nuisance violations at 6716 Meadow Grass
Lane with the costs to be paid by the property owner.
Staff Recommendation: Adopt the resolution ordering the abatement of nuisance violations at
6716 Meadow Grass Lane.
N. Consider ratifying the appointment of Steve Messick as Chair of the Planning
Commission.
Staff Recommendation: Ratify the appointment.
