Action Form - South Rink Dehumidification.doc AMroved
City of
Cotta Grove
Minnesota
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Zac Dockter
Date: 2/16/10
Subject: South Rink Dehumidification
The 2010 budget allows for the purchase of dehumidification in the south rink at a budgeted
expense of $40,000. When providing a figure for the budget I had presumed the rink would
need either one gas or two electric desiccant dehumidifiers. Due to technological advances, it
appears we are likely able to meet our needs with just one electric desiccant dehumidifier. I
have reviewed the moisture removal data and also solicited the professional opinion of the
mechanical engineer who worked on our expansion project. After reviewing the data and
interviewing several other rink managers who have experienced this product we both strongly
believe our smaller south rink can be serviced with just one electric desiccant unit.
As per the city purchasing policy, attached are two quotes for the Arid -Dry MS -2600 Desiccant
Dehumidification Unit. Included is a purchase order for the low quote from Becker Arena
Products in the amount of $17,110.00. This number does not include shipping, tax and
installation fees by a professional electrician. I anticipate the total cost of the unit including
installation to be $20,750.
Upon approval I will immediately order the unit so that we can have it installed prior to the
spring skating season.
Regards,
Zac
