Council Request
At the March 3, 2010 City Council meeting, staff was asked to remind residents of information
on the County "Open Book' meetings which take place in April.
Information
The 2010 Open Book Meetings for owners of property located in the City of Cottage Grove,
Washington County, Minnesota, will be held at the following locations:
• Cottage Grove City Hall, 7516 80 Street South, Cottage Grove, MN 55016, Thursday, April
8, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Oakdale City Hall, 1584 Hadley Avenue North, Oakdale MN 55128, Wednesday, April 14,
2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Woodbury City Hall, 8301 Valley Creek Road, Woodbury, MN 55125, Thursday, April 22,
2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Washington County Government Center, 14949 62nd Street North, Stillwater, MN 55082,
Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
These meetings are held for the purpose of reviewing and correcting the assessed value of
real estate property for the year 2010. All persons wishing to contest the valuation of their
property or to complain that a property other than their own is assessed too low should appear
at any one of the meetings listed above and show cause for the requested correction. Any
complaint that another property is undervalued will not be acted upon until such time as the
owner of the other property (or their agent) is notified of the complaint.
The valuation of a property is directly related to the property taxes imposed upon that property
so it is vitally important to residents who feel their property is valued incorrectly to take
advantage of these meetings.
This information is included on the City website and in the March City newsletter
