This segment of street is located east of Mississippi Dunes Boulevard and approximately one - quarter of a mile south of 95th Street. The single -fam- ily phase is located in the northern three - quarters of the development area and the multi - family phase is located in the southern quarter. Street names and address numbers were assigned for each lot when the first phase was constructed in 2003. A copy of the preliminary plat for this development is attached. Honorable Mayor, City Council, and Ryan Schroeder Street Name Change in the Mississippi Dunes Estates Projects January 12, 2010 Page 2 of 2 When the final plat for the Mississippi Dunes Estates Second Addition was approved in 2005, the dead -end street along the south side of Block 2 was constructed. The plat showed the street name for this segment of street as "Dunes Way South," but it should have been "Dunes Lane South." This inconsistency was not found until after the Mississippi Dunes Estates Third Addition was recorded with Washington County last year. Copies of both plats are attached. Normally city records could have been changed to show the same street name as it appears on the recorded final plats. But unfortunately, two building permits were issued using the Dunes Lane South street name. One of the homes is occupied since April 2007. The other home is nearly constructed. To rectify this problem, it is proposed that the "Dunes Way South" street name shown on the final plats for Mississippi Dunes Estates Second and Mississippi Dunes Estates Third Additions be changed to "Dunes Lane South." Renaming this street segment is consistent with the existing street name patterns for this residential neighborhood, and residents living on this street will not need to change their street address. Recommendation That the City Council adopt an ordinance renaming Dunes Way South as it appears on the final plat for Mississippi Dunes Estates Second Addition and Mississippi Dunes Estates Third Addi- tion to Dunes Lane South. AN ORDINANCE RENAMING THE STREET CURRENTLY NAMED DUNES WAY SOUTH TO DUNES LANE SOUTH IN T HE CITY OF COTTAGE GROVE The City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, Washington County, Minnesota, does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That he street name "Dunes Way South" located along Lots 8 through 13, Block 2, inclusively in the Mississippi Dunes Estates Second Addition and along Lots 1 through 4, Block 2, and Outlot A, inclusively in the Mississippi Dunes Estates Third Addition, according to the recorded plat on file with the Washington County Recorders Office, be changed to "Dunes Lane South." SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication according to law. Passed this 20th day of January 2010.
