Vice Chair Lorraine Brown called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Glen Brown, Lorraine Brown, Beverly Gross, Leon Peterson, Frances Ratzlaff, MEMBERS ABSENT: Herb Japs, Jan Japs, Judy Spooner OTHERS PRESENT: Councilmember Mark Grossklaus John M. Burbank, Senior Planner Wayne and Angi Butt Bud Gross AGENDA Burbank requested that the ACHP add Item VII(C), Annual Meeting, to the agenda. The agenda was approved as amended. MINUTES The minutes of the January 12, 2010 regular meeting were amended by adding Councilmember Grossklaus as present and striking Brown from the adjournment language. Gross moved to ap- prove the Minutes, Peterson seconded, and the minutes of the January 12, 2010 regular meeting were approved as amended. OPENFORUM There were no open forum items. s 7310 Lamar Avenue Burbank presented the revised drawings that were completed based on the comments from the ACHP at their last regular meeting. Burbank stated that based on the revised drawings, a Certifi- cate of Appropriateness approving a a phased modification to the exterior of the structure at 7310 Lamar Avenue in Old Cottage Grove will be presented to the City Council at their March 17 regular meeting. The ACHP directed questions to Wayne and Angi Butt on the revised drawings that they submitted. The group also questioned the scheduling of the project. Burbank shared additional the information and commented that he would keep the group informed on the progress. The applicants indicated that they would have the ACHP out for a tour as things Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation Minutes March 9, 2010 Page 2 of 2 progressed. The ACHP thanked the Butts for helping to preserve a piece of Cottage Grove history. Historic Coins Burbank shared information on the progress of the Phase II historic coins. He indicated that he would not be including a date on the coin to keep it relevant longer. The ACHP concurred. Burbank reported that he would keep the group informed on the progress. 10 1AWA 11 &7I ill y Nelson Mine EIS Archeology Report Burbank shared the Nelson Mine archeology report that was prepared in conjunction with the Environmental Impact Statement scoping process. He stated that the report seemed accurate, and that he was comfortable with the State Archeologist monitoring the process. The ACHP asked several questions about the report content and noted that it was quite interesting. Burbank reported that he would keep the group informed on any new items that arise from the report and scoping process. History in Your Backyard —Washington County Burbank presented information included in a flyer from the County Historical Society on their History in Your Backyard event that was being presented again this year. He stated that he would not be selling historic cards this year based on the low sales at last year's event. Annual Meeting Lorraine Brown nominated Herb Japs as Chair, Peterson seconded the nomination. Being no further nominations, the ACHP recommended that the City Council appoint Herb Japs as the 2010 chair of the Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation. HISTORIC INQUIRIES AND EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION Burbank identified some of the informational education items that were included in the packet. COUNCIL LIASON REPORT There were no Council comments. COMMITTEE COMMENTS There were no Committee comments. STAFF COMMENTS There were no Staff comments ADJOURNMENT Glen Brown moved to adjourn the meeting. Frankie Ratzlaff seconded, and the meeting ad- journed at 8:45 p.m.
