Discussion The Renovations (Facility Cost Share) Grant Program -ARRA is funded through federal stimulus money from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. Local communities in Minnesota are eligible to apply for funding for energy improvements to public buildings, street lights, or traffic signals. Total grant costs are capped at $150,000 per applicant. Local matching funds of 50 percent of total project cost are required. All energy improvements must have a payback period of less than 20 years. The proposed Cottage Grove project would use the recommendations of the Sustainability Task Force and make energy efficiency improvements to Fire Station 2 and the Public Works facility, and potentially City Hall. Included would be installation of new energy efficient windows. The estimated project cost is over $100,000. The matching funds were included in the 2010 sustainability budget.
