Stransky, City Clerk City of Cotta Grove Minnesota To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator From: Jennifer Levitt, City Engineer Date: June 10, 2010 Subject: Award Ice Arena Locker Room Construction Contracts In January of 2010 the school district authorized expenditures of up to $150,000 from their bond referendum fund balance to construct an East Ridge Boys Hockey varsity locker room at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena. The City was determined to be the lead agency on the construction of the new locker rooms and renovation activities related to facilitating a new varsity locker room for the school district. The City Council on May 5, 2010 authorized the hiring of RVK Architects to prepare plans and specifications for the project. The plans and specifications were distributed for quotes through Kraus - Anderson as a Construction Manager (CM). As a cost savings measure, Kraus - Anderson will also be utilized as a General Contractor (GC) in addition to a Construction Manager for the project. Kraus - Anderson as a GC will provide the following items related to the project: demo, steel and stairs, carpentry, doors and hardware, flooring, painting, miscellaneous specialty items, performance bond and a project superintendent. Currently, the construction cost is at $145,241 which is below the engineer's estimate of $153,300. The total third party contributions to the project are $170,000. At this time, the estimated total project cost is approximately $165,000, which is below the previous estimate of $195,000 presented to Council.
