The Cottage Grove Fire Department is seeking permission from City Council to apply for a
grant from Fireman's Fund Insurance Company.
The City's Risk/ Safety Consultant Jeff Kuester of Wells Fargo recently referred the City of
Cottage Grove's Fire Department to the grant team representing Fireman's Fund insurance
Company. At a meeting with the team they explained their grant program and suggested it
might fit a couple of pieces of equipment that the Fire Department would like to add or replace.
The Fire Department has 2 gas monitors that are 10 years old and still working but are getting
to the end of their useful life. Purchase cost for the 2 monitors is $2,768.16.
During fires, foam is loaded into tanks on top of Engine 3115 which is painstaking and can be
dangerous, lifting 5 gallon, 50 pound buckets of foam. We would like to add a filling system to
the truck which would enable firefighters to fill the foam system from the ground. Cost for
purchase and installation for a foam fill station is $3,475.00
MCTION REQUESTED
Staff request permission to apply for the Fireman's Fund grant which requires no matching
dollars from the City.
