MINUTES
September 8, 2009
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Economic Development
Authority was held at Cottage Grove City Hall, 7516 80 St. S., Cottage Grove, Minnesota
55016 on the 8th day of September 2009.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:31 a.m. by EDA President Bailey.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by EDA Secretary /Treasurer Poncin to approve the August 11, 2009
Economic Development Authority minutes with changes. Seconded by EDA Member Jurgens,
All Present in Favor.

EDA Executive Director Schroeder gave the EDA a development update. 48 new home building
permits have been issued thus far in 2009. It is anticipated that the 2009 yearend number will be
between 60 and 70 new homes. The discussion then turned to industrial and commercial
development. EDA members were provided a status update on what leads were out there. The
EDA reiterated that they are available to meet with potential developers and end users if
needed.
ICSC CONFERENCE UPDATE
Myron Bailey, Ryan Schroeder, Howard Blin and Craig Patterson will be attending the October
28 -30 conference in Chicago. Staff has been working with Mary Slusser to find the right visual
marketing pieces. 200 zip drives have been ordered that will be loaded with a 3 minute video
and a PowerPoint presentation to distribute to attendees. The McComb Group Ltd. is preparing
a market study that will be done September 15 ". It was suggested that the EDA have a special
meeting September 22n to review the report and discuss which companies to target. The City is
also preparing several other marketing pieces in preparation for the conference. They include a
new ED website, aerial maps, brochures, premiums and post cards. EDA Member Reese will
work with staff on the meeting script.
EDA Member Reese left the meeting at 8:06.
NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATION PROGRAM
Community Development Director Blin provided the EDA an update. The HRA provided the City
a list of 5 potential houses they would like to purchase, rehab and sell. The City indicated any of
the 5 would be fine. One house has been selected thus far. Staff will be meeting with the HRA
to discuss the program and see about accelerating the process.
BRU UPDATE
EDA Executive Director Schroeder gave a BR &E update.
CALENDAR
The EDA members were reminded of upcoming meetings and events.
ADJOURN
EDA Vice President Olsen moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by EDA
Secretary /Treasurer Poncin, All Present in Favor. The meeting adjourned at 8:26 AM.
