The Cottage Grove City Code's Hunting Ordinance was amended August 10, 2005 by Council. Cottage Grove ordinance 5 -3 -6 addresses use of firearms and archery equipment in the city of Cottage Grove. Ordinance 5 -3 -6 (c) 1 and 2 states that each year prior to the commencement of the hunting season, designated hunting areas will be reviewed by the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Commission. The City Council will review the designated hunting areas for final approval. Under the amended language, it has been shown to be very effective, adaptable to development and addresses the safety concerns of the city. Since the amended language complaints have been minimal. 2006 -2007 season: 0 complaints 2007 -2008 season: 8 complaints 2008 -2009 season: 5 complaints 2009 -2010 season: 1 complaint There was only one hunting related complaint for the 2009 -2010 hunting season and it was later found that it did not occur in Cottage Grove.
