After approval by the Council, the Plan will be to present the Action Plan to the National Guard and to have them approve it and present it to the Governor. It is our hope he will then delare us a BTYR city. City to Mentor: Oakdale, invited to all our meetings Apprentice City Contact: Woodbury, Hastings, Hugo 1. Date of Apprentice City Training: January 12, 2010, June 21, 2010 and July 20, 2010 1.) Mission Statement To establish a community network of fundamental services to support and empower military personnel and their families by utilizing community resources and volunteers in ways that are communicated and understood. 2.) Focus Areas a) Family member care b) Community Support c) Youth Care d) Veteran Care 3.) Sustainability Plan A. Our plan is to have a Cottage Grove City Council Member be liaison to the committee to continue City support of the program into the future. B. Activities will be embedded in existing programs and organizations across the community, whenever possible, to ensure longterm sustainability. C. The City of Cottage Grove has the benefit of having the National Guard Armory and located within our City. This helps us maintain an active relationship with the CG Armory and personnel to brand our message and coordinate community activities in conjunction with deployment and reintegration. Military personnel are available to provide information and support for the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program. The facility offers us the opportunity to host events and present a unified front. 4.)
