Public Safety Memo To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Officer Gail Griffith, Crime Board Liaison Date: October 4, 2010 Subject: PRESENTATION OF A HAND PAINTED PORTRAIT OF BLITZ TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FROM • GROVE CRIME PREVENTION c•+ • For many years the Cottage Grove Crime Prevention Board has given small holiday gifts to all of the staff members of the police department to thank them for the work they do throughout the year. In 2009 the board decided to forego the individual gifts in favor of a single gift to the whole department. Since the Crime Board was instrumental in helping the department obtain a K9 they decided to have a portrait of our K9 `Blitz" painted to hang on the walls of the police department for everyone to enjoy. The portrait was painted by Gail Pommerening who has an art studio in Wisconsin and who grew up in St. Paul Park. The Crime Board would like to present the painting to the police department at a council meeting. The Crime Board President, Jim Taylor would like to say a few words and make the presentation. I respectfully request that the Crime Board be put on the October 20, 2010 Council agenda so they can present this painting to the police department.
