INTRODUCTION
The Cottage Grove Fire Department applied for a grant from Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux
Community early October, 2010. The grant was for their Mdewakanton Life Program and the
request was for two AEDs. I have received a letter indicating we have been awarded two Philip
FR2 AEDs, pads and cases. The Philips AEDs will be dispersed to the police and fire
department to be used in cardiac emergencies.
BACKGROUND
The purpose of the Mdewakanton LIFE Program is to create greater awareness, availability,
and knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillators
(AED's), as well as, a faster first response to a cardiac incidence not only within our community
but within our neighboring communities as well. To achieve these goals, the Shakopee
Mdewakanton Sioux Community is reaching out through the Mdewakanton Fire Department to
train first responders and place AED units throughout our area.
ACTION REQUESTED
Adopt a resolution and pass a motion to accept two cased Philip FR2 AED monitors with AES
defibrillation pads from Mdewakanton Emergency Services and Laura LaFavor.
