IFaztm Washington County Department of Public Health and Environment is pleased to announce that the Community Partner Project for City of Cottage Grove has been funded by the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) grant. Your project met the criteria for the use of SHIP funds to aid in increasing opportunities for non - motorized transportation and /or increasing access to community recreation facilities. The SHIP program is an integral part of Minnesota's nation - leading 2008 health reform law which strives to reduce overall health care costs; help Minnesotans lead longer, healthier lives by preventing the chronic disease risk factors of tobacco use and exposure and the resulting economic burdens; poor nutrition; and physical inactivity. A funding process for all Washington County projects has been established in collaboration with the Minnesota Institute of Public Health who will act as the fiscal agent. SHIP staff has set up a conference call opportunity as the next step in learning about the process and timelines. The partner project phone conference will be on Thursday, January 6th at 10:00 AM. [2 -Digit Year] - [Resolution Number] Washington County SHIP Community Partner Project "Living Healthy in Washington County" Grant WHEREAS, the City of Cottage Grove has expressed a desire to provide more secure bicycle parking options within its community parks WHEREAS, Washington County has welcomed communities and organizations to apply for matching grants under the title "Washington County SHIP Community Partner Projects" WHEREAS, Washington County has generously offered the city of Cottage Grove $3,500 in SHIP grant funding WHEREAS, the City of Cottage Grove wishes to accept said grant funding in the amount of $3,500 to offset construction costs of permanent bicycle racks at five community park locations NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, that a Washington County SHIP Community Partner Project Grant in the amount of $3,500 will be accepted and all guidelines and requirements of the grant will be upheld by the City of Cottage Grove Passed this day of.
