TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council

FROM: John M. Burbank, Senior Planner
DATE: March 14, 2011
RE: Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park Master Plan Amendment.
Washington County is in the process of acquiring 9.5 acres of land that is adjacent to the eastern
boundary of the Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. The land was offered for sale by a willing
seller and will enhance the Park. The tract of land is currently not identified as being within the
ultimate park boundary and will require a modification to the Park Master Plan that was adopted
in 2007.
There was a public open house held on the proposal on March 10 at the south Washington
County Service Building. Four people attended the meeting, and no opposition to the acquisition
was voiced.
Peter Mott from the Washington County Parks Department will be attending the Parks
Commission meeting on March 14 to explain the proposed amendment. The comments and
recommendation of the Parks Commission will be forwarded to the City Council.
John Elholm, the Washington County Parks Director will be attending the City Council meeting to
answer any questions on the amendment. The plan modification documentation is attached.
Recommendation
That the City Council review the submitted material and provide comment on the modification
to the 2007 Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park Master Plan to include the planned 9.5 acre
acquisition parcel as being within the ultimate Regional Park boundary.
