Woolery ; Date: March 4, 2011 Subject: DONATION TO EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES FUND On November 13, 2010 Cottage Grove first responders were summoned to a residence in Cottage Grove for an unresponsive male not breathing. Cottage Grove Paramedics and EMT's found the male in cardiac arrest and worked diligently at the scene to resuscitate the patient who did not survive the event. The wife of the patient (who does not want to be named) wished to sincerely thank the first responders who came to her call for help. In particular Paramedic Mande Sedlacek and Community Service Officer Tim Wessels who remained at the scene for several hours after the Medical Examiner's vehicle had broken down. Paramedic Mande Sedlacek and Community Service Officer Tim Wessels assisted in providing support and comfort as well as assisting in making several calls during a very difficult time for the family. A donation of $500.00 was given by the wife of the patient and also a separate donation of $25.00 was given by the victim's brother. The donations were requested to be used for safety and medical equipment for the first responders to use and to acknowledge the efforts of Paramedic Sedlacek and Community Service Officer Wessels. CAW /cce IDIOMdriQiIrIy RESOLUTION NO. 11- [Resolution Number] RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES DIVISION TO BE USED TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, in support of the Cottage Grove Department of Public Safety, donors who wish to remain anonymous, want to donate money in the amount of $525.00 to the Department of Public Safety, Emergency Medical Services Division, to be used toward the purchase of safety equipment and medical equipment, and WHEREAS, the City of Cottage Grove, on behalf of the Department of Public Safety, Emergency Medical Services Division accepts the donated money. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, that said Council hereby accept, on behalf of the Department of Public Safety, Emergency Medical Services Division, the donation in the amount of $525.00.
