IN THE AMOUNT OF $43,423.00 WHEREAS, Plans and specifications were completed according to city standards, and WHEREAS, quotes were requested to provide the necessary work; MR WHEREAS, two firms sent quotes; and WHEREAS, it appears that Heins Nursery, Inc. is the lowest responsible quoter; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Engineer that the contract be awarded to Heins Nursery, Inc. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, that the quote for the Pinecliff Landscaping Phase 1 to be awarded to Heins Nursery, Inc. in the amount of $43,423.00. Stransky, City Clerk CITY OF COTTAGE GROVE MINNESOTA To: Honorable Mayor and City Council Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator From: Jennifer Levitt, City Engineer Allan Larson, Engineering Technician Date: May 23, 2011 Subject: Pinecliff Landscaping Phase 1 -- Quote BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION: As part of the 2008 Settlement Agreement with US Homes, the City is required to install botl deciduous and conifer trees along with 11 landscaping beds within the Pinecliff Additions on the east side of Hinton Avenue. The landscaping is to be similar in nature to the landscaping beds that exist along the west side of Hinton Avenue and northeast corner of 65 Street and Hinton Avenue. As part of the settlement agreement the City is required to install landscaping specifically in the proposed park area, city trail corridor, pond perimeter areas, boulevard trees for future lots and areas adjacent to Hinton Avenue north of 62 Street. The agreement provides for a maximum expenditure of $78,096 for the landscaping. The agreement specifies a planting plan dated 1/24/05 which specifies the quantity and species to be installed. Quotes were opened for the project stated above on May 6, 2011. Transmitted herewith is a copy of the quotes for your information and file. Copies will also be distributed to each company. There were a total of 2 complete quotes. The following summarizes the results of the quotes received: Contractor Quoted Amount Low Heins Nursery, Inc. $ 43,423.00 #2 Southview Design Nursery $ 45,058.00 The low quote on the project was Heins Nursery, Inc. at $43,423.00.
