NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, terminates the State of Emergency for the City of Cottage Grove for the flood event of 2011. Passed this 1st day of June, 2011. Myron Bailey, Mayor Attest: Caron M. Stransky, City Clerk City of Cotta Grove Minnesota To: Honorable Mayor, City Council and City Administrator Ryan Schroeder From: Fire Chief Bob Byerly Date: May 17, 2011 Subject: RESOLUTION ENDING THE STATE OF EMERGENCY BACKGROUND At the Cottage Grove City Council meeting of March 16, 2011, the Public Safety Department requested a Declaration of Local Emergency, item 8B, which was approved by Council. Due to the end of flooding issues in the County, Washington County Emergency Management has recommended that our City and the County terminate the state of emergency. DISCUSSION 2011 spring flood forecasts across the state predicted moderate to severe flooding. A flood plan was created and put into effect for Grey Cloud township and River Acres neighborhood. The flood planning done is currently an addendum of our All Hazard Plan. The departments of Public Safety, Public Works and Community Development all had valuable input into this plan and many meetings were held to address the potential issues and plan resources. Fortunately the flooding in our area stayed below critical levels and no roads were closed to Grey Cloud township as was first thought would happen with projected flood levels. RECOMMENDATION Approve the resolution ending the State of Emergency for the City of Cottage Grove.
