For the past few months, we have been using electronic packets with the City Council on a trial basis. It has been working fairly well, and we would like to expand the use of electronic packets to all commissions and committees. This will result in less paper usage and a reduction of staff time to prepare and distribute the packets. It would be easiest for all involved if we move from using miscellaneous outdated laptops to a single robust, easy to use device such as the iPad, which has a simple user interface, long battery life, and is nearly invulnerable to viruses. We will continue to use the outdated laptops for staff members that do not have a laptop as their main computer, and eventually convert them over to laptops as their workstations come up for renewal. Since the largest commissions have nine members, we are requesting nine iPads to account for all members.
