Subject: Silverwood Development Turnaround — Quote Approval
The enclosed quote is for construction of a turn - around at the end of 61 Street in the
Silverwood Development. This turnaround or cul -de -sac was not able to be secured by the
developer at the time of construction. The project will include the reconstruction of two
properties' yards (removing the bituminous turnaround), installing curb and gutter, installing
two aprons, and constructing a bituminous turnaround on Amundson's property. The
Amundson agreement has been executed and filed for the property for the construction of the
turnaround. The City was able to secure the Amundson agreement for no financial
compensation, but for the removal of a tree fort illegally constructed on their property, clean up
of illegally dumped material on their property, and installation of a wire fence to prevent further
encroachment. As part of the final project close -out, additional money was collected from the
Silverwood developer to provide for the reconstruction of the two lots' yards, driveway aprons
and curb and gutter adjacent to the properties. The proposed project would utilize the
Completed Construction Fund, since this is a development related expense. The project also
enhances public safety and public works functions in that area with a standard cul -de -sac.
This will also enhance the neighborhood to bring a finished look to the area. This is important
since we do not know when the adjacent land will be developed.

It is recommended to award the project to the lowest accepted quote, supplied by Hardrives,
Inc. in the amount of $56,211.75.
RESOLUTION NO. 2011-
RESOLUTION AWARDING QUOTE FOR THE SILVERWOOD DEVELOPMENT
TURNAROUND TO HARDRIVES, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $56,211.75
WHEREAS, Plans and specifications were completed according to
city standards, and
WHEREAS, quotes were requested to provide the necessary work;

WHEREAS, two firms sent quotes; and
WHEREAS, it appears that Hardrives, Inc. is the lowest responsible
quoter; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Engineer that the
contract be awarded to Hardrives, Inc.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
of Cottage Grove, County of Washington, State of Minnesota, that the quote for
the Silverwood Development Turnaround to be awarded to Hardrives, Inc. in the
amount of $56,211.75.
