APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the August 12, 2002 meeting approved as mailed. NEW BUSINESS A. Hamlet Park Basketball Court Retrofit Dockter reviewed this item from last month and said he is getting the cost estimates of the standards and necessary fencing. There should be no additional costs for the repainting of the courts. Once those numbers are collected, Dockter will take them to the Basketball Association to see what kind of contribution they would be willing to make at which point a decision will be made from there. Parks Commission Minutes 2 September 9, 2002 OLD BUSINESS A. Kingston Field Lighting Discussion — Continued Dockter reviewed the submittted memo, discussed the costs, and mentioned that staff recommends not installing the lighting unless the full construction costs are picked up by an outside entity. Boche said he brought this item to the Soccer Association but would like to bring it back to them with more clarification on the numbers. As of right now, the Commission recommends not to proceed unless outside funds become available. B. Hamlet Park Renovation — Draft 3 The Commission toured the facility of Hamlet Park . Burbank and Dockter reviewed the third draft submitted. The Commission liked the third draft, but there were some concerns with parking and road access. Another concern from the Commission was to include some sort of permanent concession stand built between the baseball fields. They would also like to see the fields rotated slightly to avoid sun conflicts. A fourth draft will be submitted by the next meeting. C. Lamar Fields Master Planning - Continued Burbank submitted an initial master plan draft. The Commission's initial reactions were that they liked the first draft and would like to incorporate a community center if that is applicable. There will be more discussion and questions in the meeting with the City Council set for September 18, 2002 to get a better feel of what is being asked of the Commission. Once that meeting is complete, the Commission will review this draft once again and make a recommendation. D. Thompson Family Park — Update Dockter and Burbank reviewed the future Peter Thompson Family Park plans and mentioned that the planning stage is 99% complete and hopefully the park will be under construction by next fall.
