Wilmer Holz
is Employee of the Semester

was hired in 1964 as the first full -time
Park Department employee. Now
superintendent of park maintenance
for the Public Works Department,
Wilmer was honored for his actions
which saved the city approximately
$60,000 in costs for landscaping soil.
Marie 1
is Volunteer of the Semester
Marie Ehlenz received her award for
work as a volunteer emergency
medicat technician with the South
Washington County Ambulance Ser-
vice.
Marie has been responsible for
maintaining and organizing records of
monthly meetings, training, upkeep
and member notification regarding
registry status, information quite costly
to create or replace.
Cottage Grove water customers are
reminded that Cottage Grove maint-
tains a year -round restriction on lawn
and garden sprinkling.
The ordinance limits sprinkling to
even - numbered addresses and odd -
numbered addresses. Violation of the
ordinance is a petty misdemeanor and
violators are subject to a fine of up to
$100.
If all residents observe this restriction,
we expect no problems in maintaining
an adequate water supply for all areas
of the city.
Persons who have street lights
located on their side of the street are
asked to call the Public Works
Department, 458 -0828, to find out
where the street light wiring is located
before placing a mailbox, sign or
anything in the ground that could sever
or damage the wires.
If you detect a sewer gas smell in your
basement, it could be caused by a dry
drain trap. A quart of water in the floor
drain will seal the trap and eliminate
the odor.

The Cottage Grove Athletic Associ-
ation is a volunteer organization
dedicated to providing organized
athletics to the youth of Cottage Grove
and surrounding communities.
Today's organization is made up of a
similar Board of Directors consisting of
a President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer, Equipment Manager, and a
Director from each sport.
Please feel free to call these Directors if
you have any questions about a
particular sport.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Due to the efforts of Mr. Fran Ullman,
back in 1959, the first baseball team
was organized. A second team was
organized by Mr. Gongoll in 1960 and it
has grown ever since.
In May of 1961, a group of concerned
citizens formed an organization called
the Thompson Grove Athletic Associ-
ation and officially incorporated. This
group formed the first Board of
Directors and included Lawrence
Eaton, Leo Bawek, Frank Borash,
Richard Falb, Wayne LaPerr, Mrs.
Charles Orme, Donald Hehkamp,
Daniel Tate, and Fran Ullman.
In 1974 the Thompson Grove Athletic
Association was officially changed to
the Cottage Grove Athletic Associ-
ation.
This group of individuals oversee the
overall operation of the CGAA and its
4000 annual participants.
