Past Projects /Programs • We assisted Park High School with the selection process for the new Boys Varsity Lacrosse coach; recreation currently operators the youth rec. leagues. Greg Rinzel was selected. • In January we held our Skate Night at Highlands Park — over 250 residents attended this free community event. • Recreation, along with the entire Parks & Recreation Dept. and Public Works continue the "Good to Great" project with stakeholder and employee interviews. • We offered a program at Peter Thompson Park on February 21; a no school day. • The 2011 -2012 Men's Hockey completed their season — eight teams participated the league. • On President's Day — over 20 hockey players participated in the Hockey Skills Competition we hosted at the Arena. • Completed the Parks & Recreation Dept. 2011 Annual Report. Current Proiects /Programs • The Tobacco Free Policy was not passed by City Council in February, so it will be brought back to the Parks Commission in May as a work item. • Completing the Summer Recreation Guide — to begin marketing summer programs. • Getting ready for the Youth Activities Expo on March 22, 2012 at River Oaks Golf Course from 5 -8pm. • We will be having a program at Peter Thompson Park the week of Spring Break and have two field trips and plenty of fun activities planned during the week. • Completing the hiring process and beginning the training process for the new Clerical Staff. • Preparing for our "Good to Great" retreat in late March.
