Initially, all calls, questions and concerns should be brought to the attention of Patti Dillon at 651- 458 -2804. Patti will take the address, check permit records to verify if a permit has or has not been issued, then provide the information to a field inspector to be scheduled for inspection. The inspector will drive to the site and if a project is commencing and someone is on site, he will ask permission to enter the property to identify the scope of the project and discuss the project with the contractor. Should a permit be required, he will note all the necessary contact information and guide them through the permit process. Should no one be on site and the inspector suspects a construction project is commencing, he will post a "Stop Work Order" and send the homeowner a letter, requesting entry into the house to identify the scope of the project and provide a compliance deadline for permit issuance. Keep in mind that many suspected construction projects, such as; new cabinetry, doors, trim, painting, carpeting and other flooring, and minor interior /exterior remodeling do not require building permits; however, the field inspectors should be contacted to make the final decision. \ \scooby \groups \building \BOB \MEMOFORM \Suspected Non - Permitted Construction Projects 2012.doc
