The Cottage Grove Beyond the Yellow Ribbon will be hosting an event:
Echoes of War: The Combat Veteran In the Criminal Justice System
Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 6:15 - 9 p.m.

Content of the Presentation:
Hector Matascastillo, MSW and LGSW who works for Minnesota Department of Human
Services as a social work specialist in community services and former 1 st Sergeant Army Ranger
Scout for 18 years during which he earned a bronze star, will present on his experience as an
Army Ranger Scout and his experience of returning from his final deployment, committing a
crime as a result of undiagnosed and untreated PTSD, and, as a result, entering the criminal
justice system before Veterans' Court existed.
Brockton Hunter, JD, will present on what Veterans' Courts are and how they work.
They have given this presentation for many governmental organizations, including the
Washington County Sheriffs Department, and many organizations, including Minnesota Justice
Foundation, which is an organization for attorneys and paralegals.
There will be a meet and greet with Hector and Brockton from 6:15 - 6:30 p.m.
