COUNCIL ACTION REQUEST
Pass a motion authorizing the acceptance of funding from the Washington County Emergency
Management Division through the federally funded Urban Area Security Initiative up to an
amount of $7,646.00 to be used towards the purchase of two (2) Panasonic Toughbook 31 —
Core i5 2540M 2.6 squad laptops for the Cottage Grove Police Department.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Subject: 2012 USAI FUNDING — Washington County Chiefs
In June of this year, Washington County Emergency Management advised Washington
County Chiefs of available Urban Area Securities Initiative (UASI) funding dedicated for
use in law enforcement interoperable communications. This allocated funding can be
used by law enforcement to purchase mobile laptops and related mounting hardware.
During the City Budget process, this funding was discussed with city administration,
indicating the funding available to our agency as $ 7,646.00. This funding will cover all
but approximately $ 200.00 of the purchase of two Panasonic Toughbook 31 — Core i5
2540M 2.6 ($ 7352 + tax) squad laptops.
Funding Details
Approved for interoperable communications in law enforcement — mobile laptops
and mounting hardware for squads in RMS /CAD functions
Agencies will be reimbursed for full and partial expenditures up to
$ 7,646.00 /agency, no match requirement
