COUNCIL ACTION REQUEST
Pass a motion authorizing the purchase of two (2) MIS recommended 16g IPAD 2 tablets
along with two (2) Otterbox protective cases to be used in the EMT /Fire division for operations
and emergency management, with the receipt to be submitted after purchase to Washington
County Emergency management for reimbursement for a total reimbursement of $931.86.

Subject: Acceptance of Homeland Security Reimbursement for IPADs
INTRODUCTION
Cottage Grove Public Safety works in conjunction with Washington County Emergency
Management and Minnesota Homeland Security for Radiological reception. We have the
option of having equipment reimbursed through Homeland Security grants.
BACKGROUND
Cottage Grove Public Safety works as the reception site for Radiological emergencies for
Washington County and Minnesota Homeland Security. Minnesota Homeland Security has
agreed and approved Cottage Grove Public Safety to purchase two IPAD2 devices and
protective cases to be used in the EMS /Fire division for daily operations and emergency
management.
The device will be multi -used for EMS /Fire daily duties, inspections and kept current with our
City All Hazard and Mitigation Plan. Current radiological policies toward the reception center,
transportation of contaminated patients and current 2012 FEMA ICS forms will be uploaded to
assist Cottage Grove Public Safety in running and setting up as site incident commander. The
devices will also be used in our city emergency operations center (EOC) as needed.
MIS has given the quote of 759.36 +52.21 tax for two IPAD2 devices and 120.30 for Otterbox
cases.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchase two MIS recommended 16g [PAD 2 tablets along with two Otterbox protective cases
to be used in the EMT /Fire division for operations and emergency management. The IPADs
will be uploaded with appropriate software and our current All Hazard Plan, Mitigation Policy
and Radiological Plan. Receipt is to be submitted to after purchase to Washington County
Emergency Management for reimbursement. Total reimbursement is 931.86.
