Memo
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Joe Fischbach, Human Resources Coordinator
Date: January 11, 2013
Re: Pay Equity Report
Every three years we are required by the State of Minnesota to file a Pay Equity
Report. The State will then review the data submitted by the City to determine if
we are in compliance with the pay equity law. I have attached a copy of the
report that we will submit to the State. This pay equity report is based on 2012
wage data.
Staff has run our data through the State's software, so that we would know in
advance whether or not the City is in compliance. The result of that process
shows that the City is in compliance. There is no reason to believe that the State
would find different results, since we used the same software that the State uses.
We are required by law to post a notice indicating that the report has been filed
and that is available to any employee upon request. After Council approval, that
notice will be posted. Per requirements, the City will also mail a copy of the
report to all the bargaining unit representatives.
It usually takes several months before we receive a report back form the State.
Once that occurs, you will be notified of the official findings.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Accept pay equity report.
