Re: RECOGNITION AND CHECK PRESENTATION — COTTAGE GROVE
CRIME PREVENTION BOARD
Background
The mission of the Cottage Grove Crime Prevention Board is to promote the
partnership between the Cottage Grove Police Department and citizens in
support of a safe community, provide financial support for equipment, training,
and programs to enhance safety, and provide crime prevention and safety
information to the citizens.
Over a year ago, the Cottage Grove Crime Prevention Board set a goal to raise
money to purchase a mobile speed trailer. Through various fundraisers and
donations to the board, they were able to raise $6,000. They had planned to
continue to fundraise for the purchase. The total cost of the trailer is $19,576.29.
At the March 5 City Council meeting, the purchase of the mobile speed trailer
was authorized with the police department funding the balance.
The Cottage Grove Crime Prevention Board continues to be supportive of the
Cottage Grove Police Department as well as the City of Cottage Grove. Most
recently the Crime Prevention Board donated $288.80 to purchase two pieces of
equipment for the Public Safety City Hall fitness room. Another valuable
resource that they provide is cash rewards for information that leads to the arrest
and conviction of those responsible for crimes that occur in Cottage Grove. The
board continues to sponsor training for our officers as well as opening it up to
outside agencies and continues to sponsor crime prevention and safety
information to the citizens.
Presentation
The Cottage Grove Crime Board requested to attend the April 3` 2012 City Council
meeting to present a check to the city. We would like to recognize the Cottage Grove
Crime Prevention Board and allow them an opportunity to present a check to the City
of Cottage Grove in the amount of $6,000 to be used for the purchase of a mobile
speed trailer. On behalf of the City of Cottage Grove and the Cottage Grove Police
Department we sincerely thank the Cottage Grove Crime Prevention Board for their
continued support.
