APPOINTMENT TO PUBLIC SAFETY HEALTH AND WELFARE COMMISSION
Councilmember Derrick Lehrke and staff liaison Peter Koerner met on Apri11, 2013 to
interview five candidates for the two openings on the Public Safety Health and Welfare
Commission. (We are currently in the process of appointing a chair of the commission as
our former chair limited out his terms.) While all candidates' demonstrated enthusiasm
and interest in public safety and health and welfare issues, we identify two candidates to
fill the openings.
We recommend Kent Griffith and Kellie Eigenheer to the PSHW Commission. Both are long
term Cottage Grove residents and have not previously served on any commissions. Kent
brings a lot of experience to the Commission as he has a bacicground in public safety and
the healthcare field. He has worked with multiple health and safety agencies. He hopes to
be a part of developing a safer community. As a legal assistant and volunteer guardian ad
litem, Kellie has background in the public safety system. She is interested in continue to
improve communication between public safety and the public.
As mentioned above, both candidates demonstrated enthusiasm and an interest in public
safety, health and welfare issues. They also understood the purpose and duties of the
Commission as well as the time commitment.
Recommendation
Council Liaison Derrick Lehrke and staff liaison Peter Koerner recommend the
appointment of Kent Griffith and Kellie Eigenheer to their first term on the Public Safety
Health and Welfare Commission ending February 28, 2015.
