Numerous departments have decided to go with the Motion Tablet (J3500) series due to ease and compatibility with our current HealthEMS/SANSIO ambulance billing. BACKGROUND In cooperation with Washington County Emergency Management, federal grant funding has been made available to Washington County Fire departments to improve interoperable communications through the Urban Area Securities Initiative (UASI) grant. Expenditures are reimbursed by Washington County. The intent is to replace three older Panasonic Toughbooks with notebook tablets that will be compatible with the county's new CAD/Records system and more specifically with the Sansio EMS billing software. In speaking with MIS Coordinator Jenny Jennings, she advises that the warranty on the Panasonic Toughbooks runs out on 10/4/2013 — they were purchased on 10/4/2010. To date Cottage Grove EMS has yet to take advantage of UASI grant funding as the timing with the new CAD/Records system were too far apart. Washington County will reimburse up to $3,300 per device/hardware (Keyboard and docking station). However, it will not cover the cost of warranty or wireless internet costs. Along with other Washington County Fire departments, PROVANTAGE Computer Products provided a quote of $2,047.77.00 per device (J3500), $303.98 per docking station and $15.86 for a keyboard, for a total of $2,367.61. The estimated warranty cost of the three devices is $354.18 for three years ($118.06 per year for each device), which covers general warranty and accidental damage (see attached).
