RE: Public Warks Commission; New Meeting Location and
Change of Regular Meeting Night
Introduction
During the May 13, 2013 meeting of the Publie Works Commission, Council M�mber Justin
Olsen inquired whether or not the commission would consider moving their meetings from the
Public Works Facility to Public Safety/City Hall in order to televise their meetings. Secondly,
because the Parks Gommission current[y m�ets on the second Monday of the month at the
Public Safety/City Hall facility, it would necessitate the Public Works Commission to meet on a
different evening in order to utilize the Council Ghamber.
Discussion.
Gommission me�nbers then had the opportunity to discuss these potential changes.
Commission Member Michael Smith indicated he would be open to the changes and Council
Member Matthew �orshee agreed. Forshee added he would like the meefings to stay on
Monday evenings. Commission Member Jeff Podoll was nat in favor of making the meeting
[ocation change stating if residents wished ta become invdlved in an issue being discussed,
they should attend the meetings rather than watching them on TV. Commission Chair Tony
Jurgens indicated his thought was to keep the meetings at the Public Works Facility in order to
be on site should the meeting involve eguipment purchases and ifiems of #hat na#ure.
Ultimately, a vote was taken for the following changes;
1. Move the Public 1Norks Commission meetings from the Public Works Facility
to the Public Safety/City Hall building.
2. Change the Public Worfcs Commission meeting date from the
second Monday of the month to the third Monday of the month. (Meeting
time will remain the same: 7:00 pm)
Vote was 3-2 in favor of making the above changes.
Requested Action
lt has been requested to move the meeting location of the Public Works Commission from the
Public Works F'acility to the Public Safiety/City Hall Facility. Secondly, the meetings will be held
on the third Monday of the month rather than the second Monday of the month.
Please place this item on the June 5, 2013 Counci) Agenda for approval.
