Background
It is with sincere regrets that I am passing on the attached information related to
the passing of Glen Brown on September 3, 2013. Glen served the citizens of
Cottage Grove in one form of the local government or another for over 50 years.
As a lifelong resident of Cottage Grove, his knowledge of the community, humor
and civic generosity will be missed.
Recommendation
Discuss as appropriate.

Glen L. Brown
(August 30, 1925 - September 3, 2013)
-._ Glen L. Brown, age 88 of Cottage
Grove died Tuesday, September 3,
2013 at United Hospital in St. Paul.
Glen was born August 30, 1925 in
Hastings to Walter and Frances (Dornfeld)
Brown. He was a graduate of Hastings
High School, class of 1943 and served in
the Army during WWII. He was a life
member and Past Commander of the
Cottage Grove VFW Post #8752. Glen
married Lorraine Dankers at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Goodhue,
MN on September 23, 1950. He first worked as a farmer and later in
customer service at Afton Alps Ski Resort, prior to retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Donald, Wayne,
Harlan and Russell; and sister Harriet Brown. Glen is survived by his wife
Lorraine, three children Dolores (Dave) Pemble of Hastings, Gary (Kriste
Lewis) Brown of Ellsworth, WI, and Janet (John) Bremer of Hastings,
nine grandchildren Dawn, Dena (fiance' Amen Mathison), Darcy and
Dara Pemble, Katie Brown, Nikki (Robbie) Barton, Andy Brown , Sara
and Michael Bremer, great - grandson Joey Lewis; brother Kenneth
(Alberta `Birdie ") Brown of Hastings; also nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
The funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Jonathan Zinnpelmann will be held
11:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran
Church, 202 West Eighth St., Hastings. Visitation will be held at the
church after 9:30 AMSaturday. Interment, with Military Honors provided
by the Cottage Grove VFW Post #8752 will follow in Cottage Grove
Cemetery.
