As you I<now 70th Street is a County roadway, so they are the lead agency or road authority on any improvements and the ultimate financial supporter of improvements. We appreciated the opportunity to meet with you and your family on November 13th to review your specific safety concerns with the roadway and your concerns related to your driveway location in reference to the existing condition today and the proposed ultimate design condition. As outlined at the meeting with County Commissioner Lehrke and City Councilmember Jen Peterson, the Washington County Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) 2014-2018, is proposing to mal<e additional roadway improvements in 2017. These proposed changes would result in turn lanes being added at Granada Avenue, which as we discussed would have an impact on your driveway and access to your driveway. The County has completed a survey of your driveway and provided four options for its relocation. The City is supportive of the options presented, but is not able to financially participate in any driveway relocation costs. At the November 6 Open Forum you requested that a tasl< force be established to review the safety of the 70th Street corridor. As we discussed at the meeting, the corridor has been studied extensively for safety improvements in the short-term, intermediate time frame and in its ultimate design build out. The issue before the County is not with the need for further analysis, it is with financially being able to support the recommended roadway improvements. If you are interested in reviewing the complete study you may go to www.cottae-rove.or/docs/CSAH-22-Corridor-Analvsis.pdf. At this time a tasl< force is not an appropriate endeavor to pursue. The City will continue to worl< cooperatively with the County to present information on the various roadway improvements, and the timing for such, to the public. We will also explore other communication methods to educate and inform the residents of the proposed improvements. At our meeting Captain Pete Koerner discussed additional patrol presences and the use of the Cottage Grove Public Safety speed trailer to help bring about awareness of motorists' speed. The Public Safety Department is committed to safety and working to address the aggressive driver behaviors that are occurring on the roadway.
