Funding is available for the construction of pump tracks, bike parks, flow trails and gravity trails. The Cottage Grove bike park's plan for a jump line appears to qualify for funding through this program. The jump line portion of the bike park is fairly labor and equipment intense work that requires skilled operator's and project managers. Should the City be awarded this grant, IMBA wnuld dispatch its' professional trail building crew, IMBA Trail Solutions, to design and construct the jump line in its entirety along with help from current Bike Parkvolunteers. This would be similar in process to the pump track that was designed and constructed as part of IMBA's Trail Building School in 2013. The grant application would be for $33,000 which would cover the costs of design and construction. No cash match is required for this grant. The City and/or MORC (MN Off-Road Cyclists; volunteer group and IMBA subsidiary) wnuld be responsible for providing the dirt and materials necessary to construct the jump line. Most likely, the material wnuld be donated as has been done in the past at the bike park. If needed, equipment rental wnuld be provided by MORC. With approved grantfunding, the successful project would result in a complete multi-level jump line in the southwest corner of the park. This section will provide progressive dirt jumps to challenge all age and ability levels. Further, it will be a safe and encouraging environment for riders to develop dirt jumping skills off of the main track areas where those types of activities may affect flow of the track. This additional feature will further enhance the bike park's appeal to a broad group bicyclists and offer multiple areas for skill progression, exercise and fun. Staff Recommendation Consider authorizing staff to apply for the Bell Helmets Grant in the amount of $33,000 to be used towards the construction of a jump line at the Cottage Grove Bike Park. . r,+ i?> t d .''`!^ W . ; _ .,--.w.T'k,r= x- -. -- -w .- R.:w...> A . ++r 1 1 fX, z 1 y ` e/ ( ` ° ' ` ,`. _ _ . : . . . .. i o-5 :v,.l .n r. - , : , , ' `` ' r + ',] f h .,.'..,.M' . - "x 3 j . j .•..M•;-liair f'._.. < swe 'Y e _.
