An initial term of more than 12 months counts as one term. Term limits do not apply to the Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation. The City Code also states: "The council may, by special application, appoint a commissioner for one term in excess of the limit provided in this subsection where it is determined that such would serve the best interests of the city." As adopted by Council policy in 2011: • Generally, Commissioners shall be reappointed to the Commission that they serve on if they are not term limited, have served in accordance with attendance requirements and express a desire to continue serving. The following commissioners have expressed interest in serving another term. 1. Two-year terms: March 1, 2014 through February 29, 2016: a. Fedelis Fondungallah and Linda Lundstrom to the Human Services/Human Rights Commission b. Mark Nelson, Neal Heurung and Ron Kath to the Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Commission c. AJ Janssen and Jodi Lewis to the Public Safety, Health & Welfare Commission d. Ryan Fleming and Rosemary Palmer to the Environmental Commission e. Jeff Podoll and Michael Smith to the Public Works Commission f. Herb Japs, Beverly Gross and Leon Peterson to the Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation 2. Three-year term: March 1, 2014 through February 28, 2017: a. Jim Rostad and Maureen Ventura to the Planning Commission Jim Rostad has served two consecutive terms on the Planning Commission. The Council liaison to the Planning Commission is recommending that he be extended one term beyond the limit, as provided for in the City Code.
