RE: Historic Donations and Other Unique Finds
Discussion
Approval was recently given by City administration for the design and installation of a historic
display case in City Hall. The case will be located in the Training Room Hallway.
At the last ACHP meeting, the Committee discussed the completion of a project that highlighted
barns in Cottage Grove. Based on this discussion, the first display concept envisioned by staff
would highlight photos and information on barns in Cottage Grove. To assist in this design task,
the following information was placed in the March City newsletter that goes out with utility bills:
Wanted: Cottage Grove Barn Stories and Images
The City's Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation is putting together a barn — themed display case
at City Hall.
If you have a picture, poem, anecdote, story, or memory that shares the importance of barns in our
past and present landscape, please share them for consideration of inclusion in the display. Both
modern and historic barns will be considered.

submissions.
The deadline to submit is March 28,1014.
Upon competition of a final design, it will be presented to the City Hall Furnishings Committee for
final approval. The plan would be to have several different display rotations a year. It is
anticipated that the Washington County Historical Society will be invited to participate in the
rotations.
Below are some of the photos currently in the City Historic Archive.
