Cottage Grove City Code allows individuals to serve on various commissions for three consecutive two-year
terms and the Planning Commission for two consecutive three-year terms. An initial term of more than 12 months
counts as one term. Term limits do not apply to the Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation. The City Code
also states:
"The council may, by special application, appoint a commissioner for one term in excess of the limit provided in
this subsection where it is determined that such would serve the best interests of the city."
As adopted by Council policy in 2011:
• Generally, Commissioners shall be reappointed to the Commission that they serve on if they are not term
limited, have served in accordance with attendance requirements and express a desire to continue
serving.
