HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000.12.12 MINUTES • CITY OF COTTAGE GROVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY MINUTES December 12, 2000 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meetingof the Economic Development Authority 9 was held at City Hall, 7516 80th Street South, Cottage Grove, Minnesota on the 12th day of December 2000. 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:30 a.m. by Mayor Denzer. 2. ROLL CALL Members Present: Jack Denzer, Shannon Green, Glen Kleven, Fred Luden, Gerard Weingartner, Jim Wolcott, Dick Pederson. Members Absent: None. Others Present: Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator Dan King, Management Analyst. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Kleven moved to approve the October 10, 2000 Economic Development Authority Minutes. Wolcott seconded. Motion Carried unanimously. 4. BUSINESS ITEMS 4A. Project Updates Schroeder summarized the recent inquiries in the industrial park, including Tower Automotive, Tushie-Montgomery, Tradehome Shoe Stores, Inc. and Advance Corporation. 4B. Business Appreciation Breakfast Staff reviewed the tentative agenda for the Business Appreciation Breakfast to be held at 7:30 a.m. Monday, January 29 at the 3M Cottage Grove Center, Building 116. Pederson inquired as to the invitation list, and suggested including development related organizations to get • information on growth in the area. There was some discussion on possible speakers, including a legislative update from a state representative, a member of the state Chamber of Commerce, or a speaker from Xcel Energy regarding utility costs. Luden agreed to see if he could arrange for an R Economic Development Authority - Minutes • December 12, 2000 Page 2 Xcel representative to speak. It was apparent there is no need for representatives from state or county transportation offices this year. 4C. Vacancies Shannon Green thanked the Authority Members and staff for the experience, and agreed to see if there is another representative from Renewal by Andersen who would like to apply for the Authority. 4D. 2001 Marketing and Advertising Staff presented a draft schedule and editorial calendars of the two primary publications — City Business and the Minnesota Real Estate Journal. 4E. 2001 Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Calendar of Events Staff presented the most recent calendar of events for the local Chamber of Commerce. 4F. River Oaks Update Schroeder summarized the status of the River Oaks Golf Course, of which the Economic • Development Authority is the official operator. With the addition of the clubhouse facility, the operation has met all operating projections. 4G. Land Use Master Plan Staff provided a verbal update of the land use plan for the area east of Highway 19. Neighborhood meetings are planned to discuss sewer/water interceptor routes, stormwater drainage issues, and various concept plans for land use. 4H. Community Center Property Purchase Schroeder discussed the possibility of purchasing land for a community center. Kleven motioned to appraise the site/facility and consider negotiations to purchase.
