The City has had concerns regarding operations and safety at the intersection given the increased volume of traffic with the additional commercial growth in the area. The City would, urge the County to help expedite the project from the proposed 2019 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to the 2017 CIP. Given the unique challenges of the intersection and the multi-agency coordination necessary to facilitate this project, the City wouid support a 2017 project construction date. The proposed project scope is to construct a roundabout at CSAH 19 and East Point Douglas Road, which would provide full access to East Point Douglas to both the north and south. The City supports the roundabout concept at this location. Access to the newly developing Cottage View area is critical to supporting our growth strategy as outlined in the East Ravine AUAR and Comprehensive Plan. This project will ensure that transportation is not a limiting factor to the growth and development of this area. We look forward to a partnership to deliver a successful project for our area. The City of Cottage Grove is also supportive of the expanded project scope to include the design and construction of a relocated park entrance to the Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. The City believes there are many advantages for relocating the access, such as better visibility, public recognition that this wonderful natural amenity exists, enhanced security, and improved stormwater management, and recognizes the recreational and environmental importance of protecting and providing access to tfie 515 acres of rolling hills, heavily wooded ravines, and prairie within the park. The City looks forward to participating and collaborating on the Master Planning efforts for Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. The City of Cottage Grove appreciates Washington County's commitment and investment in the area and looks forward to the completion of these enhancements. Sincerely, Myron Bailey Mayor CC: Cottage Grove City Council Craig Woolery, Interim City Administrator Jennifer Levitt, Community Development Director/City Engineer Washington County Board County Administrator Molly O'Rourke CI7Y OF COTTAGE GROVE • 12800 Ravine Parkway • Cottage Grove, Minnesota 55016 www.cottage-grove.org • 651-458-2800 • Fax 651-458-2897 • Equal Opportunity Employer
