BizRecycling We see as an investment in opportunities for economic and environmental growth in our community. INEFFICENCY Waste is A business paysfor a product, paysto collect the product, paysto dispose of left-over product and paysa tax on the disposal cost. New recycling legislation impacts almost all metro county commercial businesses starting January 1, 2016 “Businesses that contract for 4 or more cubic yards of solid waste collection must collect at least 3 recyclable materials (e.g. Paper, glass, metal, organics, etc.)” How large is 4 cubic yards? Standard dumpster size • 51” deep by 48” tall by 72” wide • How R/W Businesses can save $ The CEC (County Environmental Charge) • provides financial incentive to recycle more. CEC is a fee billed by licensed trash haulers to their – customers. It’s based on the amount of trash a business produces. Onsite technical assistance Onsite technical assistance If a business is interested in our services, we will: Visit the business and review waste streams • Get to know the business and their waste issues • Analyze waste bills and contracts • Provide recommendations • Help implement recommendations • Working with haulers • Finding options for difficult materials • Setting up bins and signage • Training staff • Assist with grant applications • Track results to ensure cost savings • Success Stories Luci Ancora and Ristaurante Luci • Saving ~ $2,300 annually – St. Paul Hotel • Diverting 90% of waste and saving $10,000 – Grand Avenue Veterinary Clinic • Reduced monthly trash bills by 40%, saving – them almost $170/month, or $2,040/year. Jade Salon, Oakdale • Located in a multi-tenanted building that – did not have a recycling program. The building added two single stream – recycling carts for all building occupants to use.
