MINUTES
August 11, 2015
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Economic Development Authority
was held at Cottage Grove City Hall, 12800 Ravine Parkway, Cottage Grove, Minnesota 55016
on the 11th day of August, 2015.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 a.m. by EDA President Bailey.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3.1
EDA Member Cole motioned to approve the May 28, 2015 EDA Meeting Minutes, and
EDA VP Dennis seconded, all present were in favor.
3.2
EDA VP Dennis motioned to approve the June17, 2015 EDA Minutes, and EDA Member
Jurgens seconded, all present were in favor.
3.3
EDA Treasurer Westerberg motioned to approve the June 17, 2015 Special Joint Meeting
with Cottage Grove City Council Minutes, and EDA Celkis seconded, all present were in
favor.
BUSINESS ITEMS
4.1 Business Development Update

Community Development Director/City Engineer Levitt discussed the development updates that
were included in the packet.
PUBLIC HEARING
Finance Director Roland discussed the Minnesota Investment Fund Application for American
Logistics that was included in the packet.
5.1
EDA President Bailey opened the Public Hearing. No one spoke in favor or against the
application. EDA President Bailey closed the Public Hearing. EDA Treasurer Westerberg
made a motion to approve the resolution regarding the MIF application on behalf of
American Logistics, EDA Member Celkis seconded, all present were in favor.
6.1 Business Park Appreciation Discussion
Community Development Director/City Engineer Levitt stated there is continued growth
momentum in the Business Park. Staff recently received a letter of intent for nine acres
with an additional five acres with first right of refusal. Community Development
Director/City Engineer Levitt suggested the EDA expresses appreciation to those that are
investing in our community. Historically, the EDA as shown appreciation through the EDA
Golf Tournament. She suggested a boat cruise boarding locally to view the Cottage Grove
shoreline as to showcase our community, view the fall colors on a suggested October
lunch cruise, and express our appreciation to those that support business is Cottage
Grove. There is an anticipated 100 participants for approximately $5,000-$6,000.
Community Development Director/City Engineer Levitt asked for direction from the EDA
so Staff could move forward with the preparation and planning of the event.
EDA Member Jurgens asked if the cruise would be held on a weekend. Community
Development Director/City Engineer Levitt suggested a luncheon on a weekday as the
attendees would conveniently be in the City from 11-1 on a week day for a luncheon. She
further suggested the possibility of introducing the new City Administrator.
EDA President Bailey inquired about the invite list. Community Development Director/City
Engineer Levitt stated it hadn’t been finalized but potentially businesses in the Business
Park, top employers in the City, and new businesses in our community. She also stated
there will be more details in the September EDA Meeting.
EDA President Bailey said he would like the EDA to review the list so no one is overlooked.
6.2 Calendar
EDA Members discussed the various upcoming events listed on the calendar.
VI. AJOURN
EDA VP Dennis motioned to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by EDA Member Westerberg,
all present were in favor. The meeting adjourned approximately 7:50 a.m.
